Prep Time

This dish takes just 10 minutes to prepare, making it an ideal breakfast option for busy mornings. All you have to do is cook the sausage, assemble the ingredients in the crock pot, and let your slow cooker do the rest. This casserole is also a great make-ahead meal. You can assemble the ingredients the night before, put the crock pot in the refrigerator, and just turn it on in the morning.

Cook Time

This dish cooks for about 4 hours on low heat, or 2 hours on high heat. The crock pot will keep the casserole warm until it's ready to be served. A digital thermometer can be used to check if the internal temperature of the casserole has reached 165°F. If not, the crock pot can be left to continue cooking.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground sausage
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 4 slices of bread, cubed

Instructions

1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook until it's fully cooked, about 8 minutes. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add the cooked sausage, cheese, and bread cubes and mix together.

3. Grease the inside of the crock pot with non-stick cooking spray. Pour the egg mixture into the crock pot and spread it out evenly.

4. Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 4 hours, or on high heat for 2 hours. Check the internal temperature of the casserole with a digital thermometer. The casserole is done when the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

5. Let the casserole cool for 10 minutes before serving.
